From Pastor Owen's Desk . . .
Welcome to our home on the Web. Let me tell you about our church. About twelve years ago Stacey Warne and I, along with our wives, developed a vision for a new church in the Walla Walla valley. After much prayer and consideration we felt God's distinct direction to act on the vision and Stateline Community Church was born. Beginning with about forty people in the band room at Central School in Milton Freewater, we started holding Sunday morning worship services. Since then, we have grown to about three hundred people coming together to serve Jesus Christ in our own building on Hwy 11 just south of Stateline Road.

We have church to fulfill three primary purposes:
We meet to worship God together. This corporate worship can only be accomplished by gathering together. Although we cannot overemphasize the importance of every person's individual worship and relationship with God, it is only in the church worship service that corporate worship can occur. This forms a very good reason to have church.
We have church to build each other up in faith through discipleship and fellowship. Discipleship is training about how to know and serve God better. Fellowship is meeting together to demonstrate love and commitment to each other. Do you know how to develop friendship? Time + Contact = Friendship. There is no short cut. Jesus said, "No greater love hath any man than he lay down his life for a friend." The Christian life is about true friendship and love.
Finally, we meet together to provide a place where the unchurched can find Christ. Any person can accept Christ any time. However, in our worship service, an atmosphere exists that draws people to Christ. In almost every service we have an opportunity for people to make a decision for Christ. Nothing in the human experience is more important than the decision to accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Jesus said," I have come that you may have life and live it to the fullest." Making a decision for Christ makes a person's life better. We call it redemptive lift.
These three purposes are great reasons make church important priority and give members at Stateline Community Church purpose in coming.
Our worship style is relaxed. We use music that includes a five piece "easy rock" style band. Our people try to look nice at church but no one is expected to "dress up". We believe God is looking at our hearts more than our outfits. In fact, the most important aspect of worship is the heart. We try not to get hung up on the method or style. Just come and be honest before God.
We have nursery available for young children and infants. We have children's classes for older kids. We offer a variety of small group classes and bible studies in a variety of formats during the week. We also have programs for youth.
We believe people should come to church because they want to. If you know the reasons we have church are important and you enjoy the services, we believe you will want to come. So come. Check us out. See if Stateline Community Church fits you. I think you'll like how it feels to attend church here.
